The formula

Monthly premium = 5% × monthly income

  • Income below PHP 10,000 counts as PHP 10,000, so the premium is never less than PHP 500 a month.
  • Income above PHP 100,000 counts as PHP 100,000, so the premium is never more than PHP 5,000 a month.
  • Employed members, including sea-based OFWs, share the premium equally with the employer. Land-based OFWs and self-earning members pay all of it.

One worked line: an employee earning PHP 28,000 pays 5% of PHP 28,000, which is PHP 1,400.00 a month, split into PHP 700.00 from the employee and PHP 700.00 from the employer.

These come from PhilHealth Circular No. 2020-0005, kept for 2025 by Advisory No. 2025-0002 and applied in 2026 to direct contributors, “including Overseas Filipino Workers”, by Advisory No. 2026-0042, signed 21 July 2026. All three were last checked on 20 October 2026. PhilHealth had published no circular with different figures for 2026.

Assumptions and limits

  • What counts as income. For employees, the basic monthly salary. For land-based OFWs and self-earning members, monthly income. If you can’t show proof of your actual income, PhilHealth charges the premium at the ceiling (UHC Act rules, Sec. 10.2).
  • Member types left out. Kasambahay, lifetime members, senior citizens and members whose premium the government pays follow other rules; the contribution table explains them.
  • Late payment. Interest on late premiums is not included.
  • Rounding. We round to the centavo. PhilHealth’s own bill may round differently.
  • This is an estimate. It is not a PhilHealth billing statement. Self-paying members get the official amount from PhilHealth’s Statement of Premium Account.
