How the rate is set
The MP2 rate is not fixed in advance. Pag-IBIG’s Circular No. 487 calls it a “flexible return rate”. The MP2 page says at least 70% of the Fund’s net income goes to dividends, so the rate depends on how much the Fund earned that year. A good year can mean a higher rate and a weak year a lower one. The rates above went up every year from 2021 to 2025, but that tells you nothing certain about the next one.
Rate, interest or dividend?
People often search for the “MP2 interest rate”. Strictly, MP2 pays a dividend: a share of what the Fund earned, decided after the year ends. Interest on a bank deposit is usually agreed before you put the money in. That is why the MP2 rate is only known a year late.
You also choose how the dividend is paid, once, when you open the account:
- Compounded: each year’s dividend is added to your savings, and the next year’s dividend is worked out on the bigger amount. This is the idea behind compound interest. Everything is paid when the five years end.
- Paid out every year: the dividend is paid to you each year and your savings stay the same size.
What a rate means in pesos
A rate is only known after its year ends, so the useful sum is a past one. At the rate Pag-IBIG declared for 2025, 7.12% (Pag-IBIG MP2 page), PHP 100,000 kept in MP2 from January to December 2025 would have earned:
- Put in at the start of the year
- PHP 100,000.00
- Dividend for the year
- PHP 7,120.00
That is our calculation, with the average-balance method the MP2 calculator page explains, because Pag-IBIG has not published its exact method. Past rates do not predict future ones.
Regular Savings dividend
Your regular monthly Pag-IBIG contributions (Regular Savings, also called Pag-IBIG I) earn their own dividend each year. Circular No. 487 says the MP2 rate is set higher than the Regular Savings rate, and the figures below show that gap. These are the Regular Savings rates on Pag-IBIG’s Regular Savings page, checked on 20 October 2026:
| Year | Regular Savings dividend rate | MP2 dividend rate |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 6.62% | 7.12% |
| 2024 | 6.60% | 7.10% |
| 2023 | 6.55% | 7.05% |
| 2022 | 6.53% | 7.03% |
| 2021 | 5.50% | 6.00% |

When the next rate comes out
Pag-IBIG usually announces the MP2 rate around February, for the year before. It posts the news on pagibigfund.gov.ph and updates the rate on its MP2 page. If this page’s last-checked date is before the latest February, check Pag-IBIG’s MP2 page for a newer rate.

It changes every year. Pag-IBIG declared 7.12% for 2025, 7.10% for 2024, 7.05% for 2023, 7.03% for 2022 and 6.00% for 2021. The rate for a year is announced around February of the next year, and past rates do not promise the next one.
