Pag-IBIG provident claim: getting your Regular Savings back

Last checked

A provident claim is how you get your Pag-IBIG Regular Savings back: your contributions, your employer’s contributions and the dividends they earned. You can claim when your membership matures after 20 years, when you retire, when you leave the Philippines for good, and on a few other grounds. Maturity, optional withdrawal and some retirement claims can be filed online in Virtual Pag-IBIG; the others are filed at a branch. Pag-IBIG’s Citizen’s Charter gives 20 working days to process a claim, and charges no fee.

Grounds for a claim

Pag-IBIG’s Regular Savings claims page lists these grounds, checked on 20 October 2026:

  • Membership maturity: 20 years of membership, with 240 monthly savings. The 20-year term comes from RA 9679 Sec. 8.
  • Optional withdrawal after 15 years: for a member who has completed 180 continuous monthly savings.
  • Retirement: compulsory at 65, or optional at 60. The claims page’s FAQ adds a condition of at least 120 monthly contributions for retirement at 60.
  • Permanent total disability or insanity.
  • Leaving work for health reasons.
  • Critical illness of the member or an immediate family member.
  • Permanent departure from the Philippines, and expatriates leaving the country.
  • Death of the member, claimed by the heirs.

Documents and how to file

For a member’s own claim, Pag-IBIG’s claims page asks for the Application for Provident Benefits (APB) claim form (PFF285), your Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card or Loyalty Card Plus, and one valid ID. Claims by heirs have their own list, below. Extra documents by ground:

  • Maturity: your SSS employment history, if applicable.
  • Retirement: valid IDs that show your date of birth, and for some sectors a retirement document, such as a certificate of early retirement for private employees aged at least 45, a GSIS retirement voucher for government employees, or the order of retirement for the AFP, PNP, BJMP and BFP.
  • Permanent departure: a photocopy of your passport with an immigrant, residence or settlement visa, and the Declaration of Intention to Depart from the Philippines Permanently. You don’t need the declaration if you are already based abroad.
  • Disability, critical illness or health separation: the original physician’s certificate with a clinical or medical abstract. For a family member’s critical illness, add the PSA marriage or birth certificates that show the relationship.

Documents issued abroad must be apostilled, or certified by the Philippine embassy or consulate if the country is not part of the Apostille Convention (Citizen’s Charter).

Online, through Virtual Pag-IBIG. The Citizen’s Charter lists the grounds that can be filed online: membership maturity, optional withdrawal, and MP2 maturity and payouts. Another charter entry and the Virtual Pag-IBIG FAQ add retirement (the FAQ says at 65). The steps on Pag-IBIG’s claims page:

  1. Scan or photograph the filled-in APB form and your documents.
  2. In Virtual Pag-IBIG, choose “Claim Pag-IBIG Savings”, then “Regular Savings Maturity”.
  3. Confirm your account with your MID number and complete the claim.
  4. Pag-IBIG texts you a confirmation and a reference number, and another message when the claim is approved.

At a branch. Fill in the APB form, hand it in with the documents at any Pag-IBIG branch, and keep the Provident Benefits Acknowledgment Receipt. The charter says it shows the date the money will be released.

How you are paid. Until 30 November 2026, payouts may still be by check. From 1 December 2026 Pag-IBIG pays electronically, under its Circular No. 503: to a disbursement card or your Loyalty Card Plus, a LANDBANK account, or your nominated bank or non-bank account or an accredited cash payout outlet. Checks are kept for exceptional cases.

Claiming from abroad or for a parent

  • Online is easiest from abroad for maturity and optional withdrawal, as long as you have a Virtual Pag-IBIG account.
  • Through a representative. The Citizen’s Charter asks for the APB form, an original authorisation letter, and photocopies of a valid ID of both you and your representative. Pag-IBIG’s lists don’t ask for a special power of attorney for provident claims.
  • Help from abroad. Pag-IBIG’s OFW page links its Regular Savings claims page, and its OFW OwnLINE email, ofw_ownline@pagibigfund.gov.ph, takes questions from members overseas.
  • Documents from abroad need an apostille or consular certification, as above.

Claims by heirs

When a member dies, the family claims the savings at a branch. For a married member with children, Pag-IBIG’s claims page lists:

  • the member’s PSA marriage contract and PSA Advisory on Marriages, and the PSA death certificate (charter);
  • the children’s PSA birth certificates, and the marriage contract of any married daughter;
  • Pag-IBIG’s Proof of Surviving Legal Heirs form, signed by the claimant;
  • an affidavit or declaration of guardianship if any child is a minor;
  • two valid IDs of the claimant;
  • optionally, a notarised waiver of rights from the children, with two IDs each and two witnesses.

For a member who was single, the page adds a PSA certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR), and other documents depending on whether there were children and whether the parents are living. Under Circular No. 503, the heirs give Pag-IBIG the details of the account they want the money paid into.

Pag-IBIG’s own lists use the Proof of Surviving Legal Heirs form; none of them asks for an extrajudicial settlement.

Next to MP2 and SSS

Pag-IBIG, SSS and your own savings each pay out differently. Our retirement planning hub looks at how they fit together, and the rest of Pag-IBIG is on our Pag-IBIG guide for OFWs.
