How to register for Pag-IBIG online, including from abroad

Last checked

You register for Pag-IBIG online on Pag-IBIG’s own site, Virtual Pag-IBIG (this link opens Pag-IBIG’s own site). Click “Be A Member”, then “Register”, and fill in your details. You get a Registration Tracking Number (RTN) straight away, and your permanent MID number about three working days later. The same online form works from abroad. Pag-IBIG charges nothing to register. Once you have your MID number, set up a Virtual Pag-IBIG account to see your savings and pay online.

Who must or may register

Membership is mandatory for employees covered by SSS or GSIS, and for “Filipinos employed by foreign-based employers” (Republic Act No. 9679, Sec. 6). Pag-IBIG’s Citizen’s Charter spells this out for OFWs: it covers Filipinos working for foreign-based employers “whether they are deployed here or abroad or a combination thereof”, and Filipino seafarers “upon the signing of the standard contract of employment”.

Voluntary membership is open to anyone “at least 18 years old but not more than 65 years old” (Circular No. 460). That includes people who stopped working, at home or abroad, and want to keep paying.

What you need before you start

Pag-IBIG’s Citizen’s Charter for online registration lists:

  • the Member’s Data Form (MDF), which the online form fills in for you;
  • one valid ID. The charter’s list includes passports, including those issued by foreign governments, the OWWA ID, the OFW ID and the Seaman’s Book;
  • proof of income, unless you are not yet employed or a first-time jobseeker.

The registration screen now starts with the National ID. If you have a PhilID, ePhilID or the digital National ID in the eGovPH app, you can register with a liveness check or the ID’s QR code. Without a National ID, there is a separate route that asks for “a valid ID, proof of income, and a selfie photo”.

Enter your name and birth date exactly as they appear on your birth certificate. Pag-IBIG’s membership page asks for this.

Registering, step by step

The steps on Pag-IBIG’s membership page:

  1. Go to Virtual Pag-IBIG.
  2. Click “Be A Member”, then “Register”.
  3. Enter your name, middle name, last name and birth date, matching your birth certificate.
  4. Fill in the rest of the registration details, then click “Submit”.
  5. Save your Registration Tracking Number (RTN). If you gave a mobile number, Pag-IBIG also sends it by text.

The RTN is temporary. After two to three working days, Pag-IBIG checks for duplicate records and gives you your permanent MID number.

Registering from abroad

There is no separate overseas form: the “Be a member” button on Pag-IBIG’s OFW page opens the same Virtual Pag-IBIG registration. What helps from abroad:

  • Your ID. A foreign-issued passport counts as a valid ID in the charter’s list.
  • No registered mobile number? The charter says registrants without a registered mobile number can get their MID number through the Pag-IBIG hotline or at a branch after three working days.
  • Help by email. Pag-IBIG’s OFW OwnLINE, ofw_ownline@pagibigfund.gov.ph, gives “priority service” to OFWs. Its page asks you to include your full name, MID number if you have one, date of birth, mobile number, email address, country of deployment and the transaction you need help with.
  • Help in person. Pag-IBIG lists Overseas Service Desks in Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Milan, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar and Riyadh on its OFW page.

This page doesn’t ask for any of these details. Send them only to Pag-IBIG’s own channels.

After you register

  1. Get your MID number. Two to three working days after you get your RTN, use “Verify MID Number” in Virtual Pag-IBIG. See how to find your Pag-IBIG MID number.
  2. Open a Virtual Pag-IBIG account to see your savings and pay online. See Virtual Pag-IBIG from abroad. OFWs signing up need a Philippine mobile number for the one-time PIN.
  3. Make your first contribution. See Pag-IBIG contributions for how much OFWs pay.

If you are setting up your government memberships from scratch, SSS has its own online registration too. See SSS online registration. The rest of Pag-IBIG is on our Pag-IBIG guide for OFWs.
